The Summer Symposium was held in the University of Zimbabwe in Harare on the 24th October 2025 and attended by 85 members and 53 students

Talks On Line - SEG 2025 Poster Presentations - UZ Students
The GSZ in collaboration with SEG is sponsoring two final year Undergraduate Students from the Univesity of Zimbabwe to present posters at the Annual SEG conference in Australia, September 2025.
On 9 July 2025 the two students delivered their talks to 30 members of the Society.

Passing of Teddy Zengeni
It is with great sadness that we announce that Teddy Zengeni, an Honourary Life Member of the Geological Society of Zimbabwe, died in South Africa on 31 October 2024.
Dr Zengeni was born on 3 April 1942 in the Nyanga District. He attended St Augustines and Goromonzi secondary schools: Teddy graduated with a BSc Honours from University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1964. He went on to study geophysics at Stanford University in the USA, first for an MSc and then was awarded a PhD on “KKP and the Fine Structure of the Earth’s Core”: in 1970
Field Trip to Zimbabwe Gold Mines
After the SEG gold course in Harare the GSZ arranged a field trip to a selection of mines across Zimbabwe.

SEG - Gold Course
On February 10-11 2025, SEG, in conjunction with GSZ, held a short course on Orogenic Gold in Africa and Worldwide.
The course was well attended with 70 participants from Zimbabwe, USA, UK, Japan, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia and Mali. 30 students were sponsoried by SEG with the support of the six conference sponsors

Trip to Hillside Dams and Diana's Pool
On Saturday 2nd November Dr Tony Martin led the society on a visit to the Hillside Dams Syenites in Bulawayo and to Diana's Pool to see the orbicular granites
The trip was very well attended and included two bus loads of students in addition to members.

Macgregor Memorial Lecture - Zircon geochronology: a handle in plate reconstructions, geological evolution of mobile belts and assessment of mineral deposit fertility - Benjamin Mapani
The Macgregor Memorial Lecture on the topic - ' Zircon geochronology: a handle in plate reconstructions, geological evolution of mobile belts and assessment of mineral deposit fertility' was delivered by Benjamin Mapani in Bylawayo on the 1st of November 2024 and in Harare in 4th November 2024.

Summer Symposium 2024
The Summer Symposium was held in the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on the 1st November 2024 and attended by 120 members and 110 students.
