Chikwakwa Trip - Umkondo Basal Conglomerates
On Saturday 27 May 2023, twenty one members, including represtatives from UZ, MSU, ZCDC and ZGS, were hosted by Alrosa on a trip to see the Umkondo Basal Conglomerates, exposed in a temporary pit at Chikwakwa near Chimanimani.
Thanks to Alrosa for setting this up.
Passing of Collins Mwatahwa
It is with the saddest regret that I have to announce the untimely death of Collins Mwatahwa on the night of the 11th May 2023.
We desire on behalf of the Geological Society of Zimbabwe Committee to express the deep sense of loss that we have sustained, and our sincere sympathy with the members of Collins family.

Trip to Magondi Area
On the Saturday after the 2022 Summer Symposium, Dr Sharad Master led a trip to the Chinhoyi Area to see rocks of the Magondi Supergroup.
The trip was well attended with about 40 members and a bus load of MSU students present.

Visit to Eureka Mine
On Saturday 12 November 18 members of the Society visited Eureka Mine which has been reopenned in the last few months and is producing 120kg from 100,000t of ore processed per month.

Macgregor Memorial Lecture - Geological Evolution and Metallogeny of the Palaeoproterozoic Magondi Belt, Zimbabwe and Botswana - Sharad Master
The 12th A.M. Macgregor Memorial Lecture titled 'Geological Evolution and Metallogeny of the Palaeoproterozoic Magondi Belt, Zimbabwe and Botswana' was delivered by Dr. Sharad Master in the Innovation Hub Auditorium, University of Zimbabwe on 21st October 2022 and attended by 120 members, guests and students.
The lecture was also presented in Bulawayo at the Zimbabwe School of Mines on 24th October 2022
