The society is developing an atlas of interesting outcrops in Zimbabwe. There is a large body of knowledge out there and we would like to document this information.
The primary objectives are to promote geological research, teaching, exploration and mining in Zimbabwe. It acts as a forum for geological talks and field trips.

The Geological Society of Zimbabwe was founded in 1981. From 1962 the Society existed as a branch of the Geological Society of South Africa. In 1981 an historic resolution for the formation of the Society was passed.
