Workshop - Professional Registration of Zimbabwean Geologists
On Friday 14th July 2017 approximately 40 members of the society met at the Geology Department, University of Zimbabwe to discuss the issues around professional registration of Zimbabwean geologists. The Workshop was facilitated by Brent barber.

On Friday 16th December 2016 Jeff Chaumba, a graduate of University of Zimbabwe and now with the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, gave a talk entitled
'A brief outline of the geologic evolution of the Southern Appalachians, USA, and some of its associated metals mineralization'

Summer Symposium 2016
Murehwa Batholith - Trip with Mark Tsomondo
On Saturday 26th November 20 members participated in a post Summer Symposium Field trip to the western margin of the Murehwa batholith to discuss alternative models of Chilimanzi granite emplacement, emphasizing regional tectonic controls versus vertical tectonics.
Lots of interesting discussion around the outcrops before heavy rain cut the trip short.
