20 members were led by Martin Prendergast to see the nickel laterites exposed in the nothern part of the Great Dyke over the weekend of 6th and 7th August 2016.

On Friday 5th August 2016, Martin Prendergast delivered the 2016 Macgregor Memoral Lecture to 40 people including members of the Society and the public. The event was held in the Geology Department lecture hall at the University of Zimbabwe.
The talk was titlted Nickel laterite deposits of the northern part of the Great Dyke: Geomorphology, regolith stratigraphy, geochemistry, mineralogy, distribution and genesis.

On Saturday 16 July 2016, 20 members met at Freda Rebecca for an interesting and informative undergound visit.

On Friday 29th of January, Brent Barber delivered a review of coal genesis in Zimbabwe and a summary of the major deposits. The talk was well attended and followed by a lively discussion. See the attached presentation
On the 11th December 2015 Brent Barber presented his Review of the Karoo Supergroup in the Zambezi Valley - this can be downloaded below.
The talk was well recived by approxmiately 30 members and followed by lively discussion.
The Mennell Society organised a Christmas Braai after the talk.
