Field Trip - Shamva - Macgregor Memorial 2019 - Hielke Jelsma

On Saturday 18th May Hielke Jelsma led a field trip to the Shamva Greenstone Belt.
The trip was attended by 30 members and covered the following areas/
‐ Explored the extraordinary geology of the Shamva greenstone belt with classic outcrop localities along the Mazowe River.
‐ Discussed three deposit styles: magmatic‐hosted Ni‐Cu, epigenetic gold and VHMS Cu‐Pb‐Zn.
‐ Discussed our understanding of the greenstone belt stratigraphy and of the basement terrain, following on from the Macgregor Memorial Lecture
