Visit to Mukuyu-2 Drill Rig

On Friday 13 October 2023, approximately thirty Geological Society of ZImbabwe members were hosted by Invictus and Geo Associates at their oil and gas exploration drilling operation near Muzarabani. Thanks to Invictus and Geo Associates for a very informative trip.

Trip to Dorowa and Shawa Alkali Ring Complexes

On the Saturday after the 2023 Summer Symposium, the 2nd of September 2023, the Society visited the Dorowa and Shawa alkali ring complexes in eastern Zimbabwe.

The trip was well attended with 30 members present.

Chikwakwa Trip - Umkondo Basal Conglomerates

On Saturday 27 May 2023, twenty one members, including represtatives from UZ, MSU, ZCDC and ZGS, were hosted by Alrosa on a trip to see the Umkondo Basal Conglomerates, exposed in a temporary pit at Chikwakwa near Chimanimani.

Passing of Collins Mwatahwa

It is with the saddest regret that I have to announce the untimely death of Collins Mwatahwa on the night of the 11th May 2023.

We desire on behalf of the Geological Society of Zimbabwe Committee to express the deep sense of loss that we have sustained, and our sincere sympathy with the members of Collins family.
